Critical Book Review |
|
| Form and Content of the Paper Your review should begin with a two-page summary of the book's contents. This summary should be followed by a two-to-three-page discussion of how your book relates to other books that deal with the life and ministry of Paul. (You can find this information by reading a few book reviews published in major academic journals and by comparing the book to the assigned readings for this class.) Finally, you should include a one-to-two-page evaluation of the book's contribution to Pauline studies in light of your class readings and discussions. The paper must be five to eight typewritten pages. Use a standard book-type font (such as Times, or Times Roman) at 14 point type. All citations must follow the standard conventions you learned in your English Composition class. |
Important Dates to Remember: Wednesday, February 2: On or before this day, notify Dr. Palmer of the book you intend to discuss. Wednesday, March 2: In class on this day you must submit a list of at least three published academic reviews of the book you have chosen. These must be reviews that you have already read. Either submit photocopies of the reviews or an annotated bibliography giving complete bibliographic information and a short description of each review. The reviews you submit must have been published in a reputable academic journal.Book descriptions from catalogues or unqualified web pages will not countas legitimate reviews. Monday, April 16: Turn in your completed critical book review to Dr. Palmer in class. |
